Starting secondary school can be a huge jump for many students. For a lot of our new Year 7s their new Year group is several times bigger than their entire previous school. At The Gryphon School we are passionate about promoting reading in all its forms as an excellent way to ease the transition to this new educational environment.
Every year around June we make contact with our 8 Dorset feeder Primary schools and Milborne Port Primary in Somerset to promote reading and prepare Year 6 students for their Gryphon School Induction Day. A feature of this programme has been our ever popular Summer Reading Scheme. With 10 diverse, well-chosen books students can get a flavour for the delights of a much bigger school library collection and earn National Book Tokens into the bargain.
